The Center for Ethics, Law and Applied Philosophy (CELAP) is a think-tank based in Belgrade, Serbia. CELAP’s founders are philosophers, lawyers, political scientists and anthropologists, but also architects and urban theoreticians. CELAP aims at establishing and conceptualizing linkages between philosophy as a discipline and its various fields of application. The employment of philosophy to the realm of legislation, politics and urbanism is of particular interests thus creating a space for interdisciplinary studies. By specifically paying attention to European context and its intellectual and cultural heritage, CELAP’s intention is to apply various elements of this heritage to Serbia’s contemporary legal, political and cultural milieu in Balkans. CELAP is committed to broaching new and often contested topics of societal relevance, focusing to the contemporary issues and problems (post-conflict issues, EU accession, urbanism, environment, multiculturalism and broader sociopolitical themes). Center intends to conceptualize them and to offer theoretical foundation pointing out their practical implications that affects the real life. Active and reactive in research, education and international cooperation in the field CELAP cooperates with wide network of experts in humanistic and social sciences. Its collaborators are able to conduct interviews, focus groups and specific investigations resulting in qualitative research and analytical synthesis.
