GENERATOR is an association of citizens with the primary aim of promoting and preserving culture, art, with a focus on youth in multiethnic southern Serbia. Southern Serbia is the least developed region of our country. We recognized a need to create and organize a civil base to actively promote and preserve culture as well as motivate young people to creatively express themselves. Our vision is the creation of a society of equal and active citizens making decisions about their lives, developing their culture, and respecting human rights and the culture of others. Generator’s strategy is that only by breaking down cultural, national, ethnic, religious, and social barriers is it possible to build a stronger, more effective community, thus contributing to the development of society in general. We try to overcome negative attitudes inherited from the past by implementing our projects and bringing together people who would otherwise not meet one another. To date we have implemented many projects, independently or in co-operation with numerous institutions and partner NGOs. Projects focused on youth problems, culture and art, the environment and peace building. We have cooperated with organizations and institutions from Vranje, Serbia and the wider region. We received financial support from various public and private institutions, including national ministries, local authorities, as well as international organisations and institutions.
