Office for Cooperation with Civil Society (hereinafter: Office) was established by the Government of the Republic of Serbia on January 21st 2011, by the Regulation on the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society ("Official Gazette RS", No. 26/10). This Government decision represent acceptance of multiyear civil society initiatives for necessary improving of institutional framework that should contribute to further development of civil society in the Republic of Serbia. Office for Cooperation with Civil Society has been established with the aim of systematic participation of Civil Society Organizations (hereinafter: CSOs) in the permanent dialogue with the Government institutions that should be based on transparent and structured communication and regular exchange of experience, information and opinions. The importance of this new mechanism is additionally emphasized by definition of civil society, which includes CSO’s, media, unions and employers as social partners, as well as other necessarily important social actors which take significant part in the processes of reforming and establishing mutual trust during the democratization process of institutions and society as a whole.
