Zvanično je osnovan 1895. godine, kao Jestastvenički muzej srpske zemlje. Danas muzej ima preko 1.7 miliona eksponata koji opisuju prirodu Srbije i koji se čuvaju u 120 zbirki. Natural History Museum in Belgrade is one of the oldest Serbian national institutions. In Serbia it is the only Museum of its kind, and by richness and diversity of museum pieces, achievements in the field of museology and Science is one of the leading natural history museums in South East Europe. It was officially established in 1895, as Jestastvenicki Museum of Serbian country. Today museum has over 1.7 million museum pieces describing the nature of Serbia and stored in 120 collections.
